Wararak Teacher
Wararak is a Nalderun run program for 12- 25-year old First Nations young people who identify as female and non- binary. We take them out on Country and for fun activities with the intention of fostering connection to Country, Culture and Community. We are looking for a teacher to work alongside our First Nations Youth.
VIT registered teacher and hold a full car licence
Available to work three- four Wednesdays per term (6-hour shifts) and full attendance at the camp each year (3 days, 2 nights) @ $71 p/h CRT rates. May be scope for more hours.
Work alongside First Nations Youth to plan and organise Wararak and to engage with Elders and other organisations (recent collaborations include Mt Alexander Falcons, Castlemaine Library and Black Horse Therapies)
Capacity to connect with unconditional positive regard in a non-hierarchical way and provide non-judgemental wellbeing support and referral as required
Collect and drive a 12-seater van (regular car license suffices)
Develop documentation including permission forms and DET risk assessments. Maintain relationships with Castlemaine Secondary College and Kangan Tafe including planning excursions and camps and arranging to come into schools to meet students
Shop and prepare food for excursions
